Chavadi Shirdi Address: Mauli Nagar, Shirdi, Maharashtra, 423109, India
Shirdi, a popular pilgrimage center in the Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra is one of the most visited tourist destinations in India. The home of the great saint - Sai Baba, Shirdi is always bustling with ardent devotees of Sai Baba thronging this place to seek his blessings. There are a number of important places related to the life of Sai Baba in Shirdi and Chavadi is one such place worth visiting by each and every devotee of the Baba.
Located quite close to Dwarkamai mosque, Chavadi is the place where Sai Baba used to sleep every alternate night during his stay in Shirdi. He was taken in a procession from Dwarkamai to Chavadi by his followers. Chavadi is divided into two parts. One part contains a large portrait of Sai Baba along with a wooden bed and a white chair belonging to him. Chavadi is also known as the place where Sai Baba’s body was bathed for the last time before his funeral. Even today, on every Thursday, a procession is carried out from Dwarkamai to Chavadi along with Baba’s possessions such as his footwear, satka and old photographs kept in a well-decorated palki. This colorful procession is witnessed by huge crowd of Sai Baba’s devotees.
A place of immense importance, Chavadi is a must visit tourist destination for everyone visiting Shirdi. Visiting the place where the ‘Child of God’ used to spend every alternate night and seeing the colorful and holy procession carried out with so much devotion is something that should not be missed by anyone visiting this sacred land of Sai Baba.
