Shirdi is one of the most visited pilgrimage center in India, known as the dwelling place of the great saint of late 19th century - Sai Baba. There are a number of sightseeing places in Shirdi along with the famous Sai Baba temple. One such popular place, widely visited by the tourists coming to Shirdi, is a beautiful garden situated on the Shirdi - Manmad highway known as Lendi Baug. Located close to Gurusthan, another popular tourist spot in Shirdi, Lendi Baug is a place of great religious importance. It got its name from a drain named “Lendi”, which used to flow there earlier.
Lendi Baug is the place where Sai Baba used to go for a stroll in the mornings and afternoons each day and water the plants in the garden. He used to relax under a Neem tree located here. Lendi Baug houses the ‘Deep griha’, constructed in marble stone in which the sacred oil lamp known as ‘Nanda deep’ burns continuously till date. The deep is enclosed in a glass box to keep it burning all the time. There is also a Peepal tree adjacent to the Deep griha. A small Datta Mandir is situated in Lendi Baug with a marble statue of Datta. Lendi Baug also houses the samadhi of Sai Baba’s beloved horse Shyam Sunder. The well dug by Baba known as ‘Baba’s Shivdi’ can also be seen here.
